{"id":160,"date":"2019-02-28T12:19:18","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T12:19:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.southendgunclub.co.uk\/blog\/?p=160"},"modified":"2019-02-28T12:19:18","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T12:19:18","slug":"essex-cpsa-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.southendgunclub.co.uk\/blog\/2019\/02\/28\/essex-cpsa-agm\/","title":{"rendered":"Essex CPSA AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This year\u2019s Essex CPSA AGM was held at the White Hart pub\/restaurant in Witham on the 5th of February 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agenda was:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Apologies for absence<\/li><li>2018 AGM Minutes<\/li><li>Matters Arising<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.southendgunclub.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CPSA-Logo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-163\" width=\"233\" height=\"258\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chairmans Report<\/li><li>Treasurers Report<\/li><li>Committee Members Report<\/li><li>Election of Chairperson<\/li><li>Election of Committee<\/li><li>Eastern Region Report<\/li><li>CPSA National Report<\/li><li>Colts &amp; Juniors<\/li><li>AOB <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting was opened by the Chairperson Ian Schwier who\nwelcomed everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apologies for absence were received from P McLaughlin, Cathy\nCurtis, Jerry Bland, John Wilmott, Troy Pretherbridge &amp; Diane Boutcher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2018 Minutes were agreed by all<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Matters Arising<\/strong> \u2013\nNo matters arising<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chairperson\u2019s report<\/strong>\n\u2013 Shooting across all disciplines was successful for Essex in 2018 &amp;\nplanned new Essex Compak tournament was hopefully going to be introduced in\n2019 along with other disciplines in coming years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dave Bignell was thanked for his time on the Committee over\nthe years and his service to the sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Treasurers Report<\/strong>\n\u2013 A fund has been allocated for the development of Colts &amp; Juniors during\n2019 but funds were looking good. Accounts for the previous period were agreed.\nA contribution by the CPSA\u2019s regional Committee of \u00a31500 had been received. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Committee Members\nReport<\/strong> \u2013 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sporting<\/strong>\u2013 Oliver\nWilde reported that the Essex team had performed well throughout 2018 but in a\nbid to get more results for Essex the team would not be picked through\nselection days but through the Captain hand picking the best shooters to\nrepresent the County. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>English Skeet<\/strong> \u2013 Glen\nDefreitas talked about the great success of the Essex English Skeet team in\n2018 with a win at one competition and great performances from individual team\nshooters including Tom McCluskey, Peter Stanton-Hope and Nigel Cullilane.\nGlen\u2019s expectations for 2019 are high and like the Sporting team he will be\nhand picking individual shooters to represent Essex. Training\/practice days\nwill be arranged for the team including 2 dates to be arranged at Southend Gun\nClub.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Olympic Skeet<\/strong> \u2013\nAlthough no team exists for Olympic Skeet in Essex at the moment Barry Dobbs\ntalked about the decline on this discipline in the County and generally. The\nCommittee agreed to do all they could to help rectify the situation with John\nWillis suggestion the Colts &amp; Juniors come along to SGC for an Olympic\nSkeet try day. Barry Dobbs &amp; John Willis agreed to discuss this further out\nof the meeting. The Committee also agreed to send a representative to any\nOlympic Skeet Comps to present prizes etc along with financial support when\nrequired. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Automatic Ball Trap<\/strong>\n\u2013 No report for this but generally discussed as a growing discipline. The 2019\nABT Championship is being held at Nuthampstead GC on the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> of\nMarch and a discussion was then held with a view to holding the 2020\nChampionship in Essex possibly Southend Gun Club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Down The Line<\/strong> \u2013 Dave Bignell reported that the annual competition between Suffolk &amp; Essex had been a great success apart from Suffolk winning and thanks were given to Mayland Gun Club for running the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Election of\nChairperson<\/strong> \u2013 Ian Schwier re-elected <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Election of Committee<\/strong>\n\u2013 All Committee members stood again except Dave Bignell who after many years on\nthe Committee has decided to take a break. All were voted back in on mass, no\nobjections. The Chairperson thanked Dave Bignell for his years of service to\nthe Committee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eastern Region Report<\/strong>\n\u2013 No representative or report provided by the region<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>National CPSA Report<\/strong>\n\u2013 No representative or report provided by the region<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Colts &amp; Juniors<\/strong>\n\u2013 John Willis reported that things were going well and that we have some great\nColt &amp; Junior prospects. A new poster has been produced and passed out via\nsocial media to get more youngsters involved and in 2 days he has had 8 new\nColts\/Juniors contact him so the campaign seems to be working. John asked all\nclubs &amp; groups to get involved with training and promotion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AOB<\/strong> \u2013 Ian Schwier\nannounced that during 2019 Essex CPSA will be introducing a Champion of\nChampions competition which will be shot over several disciplines in a league\ntype event. The Committee have not yet formalised the format yet but will be\nannouncing this on the Essex CPSA website &amp; Facebook page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Southend Gun Club offered to post any blogs the Essex CPSA\nCommittee wished to supply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Committee provided a sumptuous buffet for all and to\nraise funds for the County a raffle took place which had plenty of donations\nfrom Eastern Sporting, Essex Gun, High Tower Gun Club, &amp; Mayland Gun Club.\nPrizes included a gun bag, gun slip, shooting vouchers, chocolates and several\nbottles of alcohol.
